After watching the sunset, we are heading back the way we came before it gets completely dark, making our way to the desert camp where we will stay tonight.
Actually, during this trip, someone I met on another tour to Chefchaouen told me, “If it’s a well-equipped camp, the rooms are spacious, there are showers, and it’s comfortable.” Based on that, I upgraded our camp accommodation the day before. The facility we stayed at this time was right next to the camp shown in the video, and we were able to spend our time there with incredible comfort, making it hard to believe we were in the middle of the desert.
At night, guests gather around the campfire, happily chatting away, creating a lively and warm atmosphere that is completely different from the desert during the day. Since food and drinks were also provided, we were able to relax and unwind even after a long journey and a camel ride through the desert.
Around Merzouga, there are various types of camps, ranging from relatively simple ones to well-equipped ones with private showers and toilets. For those who want to enjoy their stay in the desert as comfortably as possible, we recommend checking conditions such as room facilities, showers, toilets, and meals at the time of booking.
In addition, desert camps may have a different environment for water supply compared to hotels in urban areas. If you are concerned about water facilities like showers, it is reassuring to check what kind of equipment is available in advance.
Spending a night in the desert after enjoying the sunset and a sky full of stars offers a completely different charm from staying at a hotel. When visiting Merzouga, please look for a camp that suits you and enjoy the Sahara Desert at night.
